Who is Obsidian?
Obsidian Coffee Roasters was born in 2020, during a time when the world slowed down — but curiosity and creativity didn’t.
Founded by Jordan, Obsidian began as a passion project during the COVID lockdowns. With time on his hands and coffee always close to his heart, Jordan set out to deepen his understanding of what makes a truly great cup. What started as experimentation quickly became obsession.
Jordan brings over 17 years of experience as a chef, having worked across hospitality venues all over Australia. From kitchens to cafés, and from ownership to management, he’s lived and breathed hospitality — understanding not just flavour, but consistency, workflow, and what customers genuinely connect with.
That experience shapes everything at Obsidian. Coffee is approached the same way great food is: with respect for ingredients, attention to detail, and a relentless focus on balance and repeatability. Every roast is developed to perform — whether it’s in a busy café setting or brewed slowly at home.
Sustainability isn’t an afterthought — it’s built into how we operate. Obsidian Coffee Roasters roasts 100% on solar energy, reducing our environmental footprint without compromising quality. Our beans are responsibly and sustainably sourced, working with suppliers who value ethical growing practices and long-term relationships with farmers.
